Things are starting to shape up for this summer's whitewater rafting season on the Snake River here in Jackson Hole. And we're still looking for input on our new website so that it helps you pland your trip to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and other parts of Wyoming and the Intermountain West. What is the "Intermountain West" anyway? I guess it's loosely defined as the region surrounding the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which includes most of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, and certainly even the northern part on Utah. Wyoming is the headwaters of many mighty river drainages, like the Green River, Snake River, Wind/Bighorn River. The North Platte has an important role in the history of Wyoming and western migration. John Wesley Powell began his epic exploration of the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon where the Union Pacific Railroad crossed the Green River in southwestern Wyoming.
